Villa Shambala is an eclectic mixture of old and new, borrowed heavily from the traditional wooden joglo houses of Java, but with an injection of Western perfections.
The villa showcases the distinctive trapezium-shaped joglo roofs, yet gone are the dark, enclosing wooden walls in favour of floor-to-ceiling windows and folding glass doors. This allows the light to stream into the dwellings, accentuating the honey-hued textures of the recycled teak and the ornate carvings that are the signature of these pieces of living history.

The single-storey, five-bedroom property comprises a main building and a guesthouse arranged at opposite ends of a dramatic swimming pool. The living room and master bedroom each incorporate the hand-carved teakwood core of an antique joglo, while timeworn statues from the eastern isles have been fondly placed in well-lit settings to show them off to their best advantage. Completed in 2010, the owners have since been living in Shambala and giving it a ‘test drive’ to make sure all is just right before renting it out as holiday accommodation.
The tremendous location and large capacity, extended families and groups of friends will be falling over themselves to book the spacious, stylish and luscious Villa Shambala.

Location
Seminyak’s ‘Golden Triangle’ is the centre of Bali’s ‘style universe’ and Villa Shambala shares some of the best villa real estate in the neighbourhood.
It is only minutes – by foot – in various directions to the main street of Jalan Kayu Aya (also known as Jalan Laksmana, Oberoi Street and Eat Street) where guests can find a slew of great dining options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and more. Here, up-market style is combined with fabulous cuisine from all over the world.
The street is also home to more than enough boutiques for all ages and genders, several convenience stores, ATMs, and a small shopping mall known as ‘Seminyak Square’, complete with cafés and more restaurants. Within one kilometre, you will find The Oberoi Hotel, Ku Dé Ta restaurant & beach club, and perhaps, most importantly, the northern section of the sweeping Seminyak beach. It really doesn’t get much more central than this

Features
Bedrooms
The master bedroom is characterised by a queen-size bed built into the extraordinarily-carved, tiered core of another antique joglo, which extends way up into the high roof, and is magically illuminated at night. The suite also presents a pair of separate walk-in dressing rooms, and a sexy garden bathroom with a rain shower and huge outdoor soaking tub, framed by frangipani trees and living orchids.

There is 3 guest bedrooms in a cottage at oneend of the main pool. each of the bedrooms has its own bathroom and can be made up as twin or double rooms.

Living Pavilion
The main living room is facing towards the swimming pool, with a large U-shaped sofa built into the four pillars of a century-old joglo. A chandelier hangs from the centre and when the glass doors are open the breezes blow through and the sound of running water can be heard emanating from the waterspouts in the lily pond behind. The doors can be closed for air-conditioned comfort and this also applies to the adjoining dining room, which is furnished with a teakwood table and ten chairs crafted in woven bamboo.

The second living room is located in the guests cottage and is equipped with a large soofa and a large screen TV.

Dining Pavilion

Kitchen
Instead of being tucked away out of sight – a cordoned-off, lowly space where the cook toils in solitude – the kitchen at Shambala is a place where folks will want to congregate. It has every imaginable egg-flipping gadget one can think of and is actually a delight to cook in, but most guests will probably succumb to the natural talents of the in-house manager/cook, who has created a marvellous suggestion menu, and will do all the grocery shopping (on guest account)
Dining
The menu
Villa Shambala boasts a dining service with a wonderful array of international dishes. Many
Western meals are available, but we recommend you to try some of the local Balinese
dishes for a unique cultural experience.

How meals and Drinks work-The System
Food and beverage items are charged based on grocery cost system. Guests will need to
provide some money in advance and the staff will do the shopping for you and keep the
receipts for your reference.
Should you have a request for a dish not on the menu, or a special dietary requirement,
please feel free to ask the chef, who will strive to comply with all of your wishes.
While the villa has large food preparation areas, it is not a restaurant and cannot support
each individual guest ordering different foods for same dining periods. If you have a large
group it is advisable that the group dines on the same dish or that you order several
dishes to be shared. Please allow at least one day’s notice, and feel free to discuss any
requirements with the chef or villa manager.

Food and Beverage Charges
Food items and beverage are charged at cost price with receipts available whenever you like. Please ask your manager if you wish to check your daily expense

Media and Entertainment
A cosy air-conditioned den is fitted with comfy modern sofas, a desk, and a wall unit filled with books, games, and a 46-inch TV and DVD player with surround-sound.

The guest house offers an alternative TV lounge with a 42-inch TV and DVD player, which will be appreciated by kids or guests staying in the three bedrooms located here. These bedrooms, along with the guest room in the main building, are all furnished with queen-size four-poster beds and adjoined by open-air bathrooms with soaking tubs and rain showers.

Swimming Pool, Gardens and Pool Bale
Finally, the garden has a flat lawn with a 19m swimming pool, majestically bordered by 16 palm trees. An outdoor sofa on the timber pool deck is shaded from the sun by a sail, and there are two cabanas, one with seating and one with three sun lounge’s. The garden is beautifully lit in the evenings and filled with stone lamps and statues.
The Spa
The spa room rests in a third building with the provision of a spa room for guests to enjoy massage and Ayurvedic treatments administered by skilled therapists.
